Working towards a brighter future

As one of the UK’s leading building contractors, we are committed to upholding the highest health and safety and ESG standards. We recognise the importance of tracking and measuring our social value impact, and we subscribe to the Thrive Social Value Platform to record and benchmark all activities across our sites, as well as at a corporate level. We have ambitious goals to reach, and we are confident that we are on the right track.

From embracing digital technology and modern construction techniques with enhanced sustainability credentials, to maximising employment opportunities and community engagement across our sites, we work in partnership with our clients to ensure our schemes make a positive, long-lasting impact.

Health, Safety and Welfare

Driving a Zero Harm Policy across the company, the culture of HG is health and safety excellence, achieved through investment, training and a collaborative team approach to protecting all affected by our works, both physically and mentally. Our dedicated in-house team of HSEQ professionals ensures delivery under our ISO 45001 Health & Safety Management System, in line with current legislation, training requirements and best working practices.

Digitally managed, our teams utilise real-time safety solutions including Infobric to measure performance and drive continuous improvement, and the innovative SiteAssist to control and manage the extensive crane lifting operations across our sites.

The culture of HG is health and safety excellence

Safety by choice not by chance

This is our front-of-mind campaign to collectively empower all of our people, sub-contractors and stakeholders and coalesce them into one safety first team, considering risk and reviewing all aspects of the way we do things so that we can do them better.

Environmental

Accredited to the ISO 14001 Standard and working towards Planetmark, HG is an environmentally conscientious and responsible business. Our environmental strategy embraces zero waste, sustainable procurement, carbon reduction and biodiversity, and is strongly aligned with our commitment to being an active steward of the natural environment. We are working towards being carbon net neutral for scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions by 2030.

Working collaboratively with our supply chain partners, we procure ethically and sustainably and locally where possible. Our commitment to utilising Modern Methods of Construction enables us to generate significantly less waste and environmental impact and far more energy efficient, lower carbon buildings. Across our operations, we have embraced more sustainable modes of travel, building technologies, materials and sources of energy, to ensure we meet our goals.

We are working towards becoming a carbon net neutral business by 2030.
