Mental health charity Lambeth and Southwark Mind has been boosted by a £10K donation from HG Construction following a companywide charity fun run which raised funds for three charities.
The donation will support Mind in carrying out its vital work supporting positive mental health and wellbeing across the boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark. The charity is unique in that all its services are provided free at the point of care, meaning that fundraising is crucial to its continued service provision.
Alastair Smith-Agbaje, CEO from Lambeth and Southwark Mind said: “We are delighted and extremely grateful for the generosity of HG Construction Team. This substantial donation means more residents from Lambeth and Southwark will be able to access our free services.”
The charity’s programmes include a general psychotherapy service, a psychosis therapy project and a peer support programme which involves people with similar lived experience coming together to provide emotional, social and practical help to each other.
HG has several construction projects in the Lambeth and Southwark boroughs and is committed to supporting the communities where it operates. Greg Purkiss, Commercial Director, HG Construction said: “We are pleased to be in a position to support a charity which is close to our hearts, particularly when it is as the result of a combined team effort with all staff putting their energies into our annual charity 5K run to raise much needed funds.
“Lambeth and Southwark Mind provides a range of vital support services for people in need – services which are free of charge so they can help those who would otherwise have no access to these therapies. Importantly these services are also long term and will have a lasting impact on those who take part in the programmes. As a responsible contractor, we are committed to positively contributing to the local community and we are confident that this donation will make a real difference to the lives of many.”
