Evelina London Children’s Charity is welcoming a £30,000 donation from HG Construction following a charity cycle organised by the Hitchin based building contractor earlier this summer.

HG’s London to Brighton charity cycle involved an added challenge, with the majority of those cycling making the journey on the company’s fleet of Brompton Bicycles.  Originally the event was organised as a fun challenge in summer 2021, however this year the company decided to expand the event to involve more team members and to raise money for charity in the process.

Evelina London Children’s Charity is a charity which has personally inspired some of those taking part, having had direct experience of Evelina London Children’s Hospital, the second largest provider of children services in London.  The HG cyclists were overwhelmed by the generosity of friends, family, colleagues and suppliers, raising over £15,000 via a JustGiving page. HG Construction pledged to match donations made through JustGiving, bringing the total to be donated to just over £30,000.

Caroline Gormley, Associate Director of Fundraising, Evelina London Children’s Charity, said: “We cannot thank the team at HG Construction enough for their incredibly generous donation to our charity. We’re always amazed by the different ways our supporters choose to fundraise for us, but this is the first time we’ve had a cycle ride involving a whole fleet of Brompton bikes!

“The funds raised will go towards supporting children and young people at Evelina London and allow our staff to continue to offer innovative new ways to give compassionate care. The £30,000 donation will make such a huge impact and we are massively grateful to everyone who took part in the challenge and to all who donated.”
