The first Purpose Built Student Accommodation offering undertaken for Blackrock’s development arm in Hoxton adjacent to the overground station was handed over on time ready for the September 2019 student intake. The building is fully operational and providing a unique student experience in a prime London location.
The project comprised of the construction of 237 student rooms over 8 floors. Communal facilities and student amenity spaces were created within the basement, ground and first floor level, and also providing communal roof terraces.
The façade was an integral part of the proposal with the combined use of high performance windows, aluminium detailing and GRC panels. The solution to achieve the intricate level of detailing and quality required within the challenging logistical and time constraints was to engage a unitized façade solution.
Chris McCormack, Head of Development at BlackRock:
“Andrew Carrington and his team at HG Construction delivered our 273-bed purpose built student accommodation scheme at Long Street in Shoreditch on time and on budget against the challenge of a constrained site and a tight construction programme. They did this with an uncompromising attitude towards the quality and end product.
This combined with their positive attitude to collaborative working with all stakeholders, does mean that I would have no hesitation working with them again.”
