Old Kent Road Art Project

10th January 2023

We are delighted with the progress at our Old Kent Road site – where we have commissioned renowned graffiti artist Dan Doodle to bring the 150m long hoarding to life with a colourful and fitting design.

Located within the Old Kent Road Opportunity Area, this scheme for Metropolitan Thames Valley will comprise two residential towers of 21 and 13 storeys, providing 170 new homes with 36% affordable housing. It will also include approximately 16,900 sqft of retail space on the ground floor.

The brief for the graffiti artist was to bring together colour, movement and construction elements for a mural on the hoarding – and the proposed design merges these aspects together perfectly. The concept incorporates steel girders, pipes, bricks, trucks and tools as well as people and shapes to represent the building and creation of a community space.

Previously we had issues with random graffiti at the site, and this art project has proven to be an effective solution to that challenge – whilst providing a very colourful and vibrant addition to the local area! We look forward to seeing the finished project later this month!
