It is a pleasure to be partnering with Southern Housing again to deliver Phase Two of Free Wharf – a mixed-use residential development which will deliver 100% affordable homes at Shoreham-by-Sea.

The Free Wharf regeneration initiative is set to redefine the landscape of this coastal region, transforming a disused area into a new urban hub, creating vibrant new communities in the process. The project is expected to create over 200 jobs during construction and 100 permanent jobs once completed, making a significant contribution to the area’s economic development.

The first Phase of the project, known as ‘Free Wharf Twenty-One,’ is nearing completion, with 137 apartments designed for affordable housing and commercial spaces.

Phase Two will comprise an additional 145 apartments, featuring a mix of rented and shared ownership tenures. HG Construction will be self-delivering key elements of this scheme including RC concrete frame, prefabricated bathroom pods and utility cupboards, securing quality and programme benefits for the client.

We have developed an excellent working relationship with Southern Housing over the past few years, and we are excited to be helping them deliver their vision for this area and to be working together to deliver real value for the local community.

Construction has now commenced with piling underway and the tower crane due to arrive on site in the new year. We look forward to sharing further updates as the project progresses.
