Close to our Rockingham Street development in Southwark, a group of local residents have spent the last few years transforming unused green space into something remarkable: allotments, wildlife ponds, an apiary and mini orchards. Known as the Elephant Gardeners and led by Ian Zanardelli, the site is now being considered for Site of Importance for Nature Conservation status.
Community Liaison Officer, Kirsty Davide, coordinated a delivery of 200m of galvanised wire, 40 eye hooks and gloves to help the Gardeners create a community vineyard. We also donated four 60-litre barrels, enabling residents to make their own apple cider vinegar from fruit grown in the orchards.
Our team, alongside DB Scaffolding, also donated 20 scaffold boards, which will be repurposed as shelving within the group’s community learning space. It’s practical support for people doing something genuinely inspiring on their doorstep.
Great work from Kirsty and the team. We’re proud to support the Elephant Gardeners and look forward to seeing the project continue to grow.
We’ve been proud to support their efforts. Ou
